MALAYAN UNION - PROPHECY OF EXCESSES

Harold MacMichael proposed the Malayan Union in 1948. He probably saw what is coming to be 60 years ago, the excesses. The loyal Malays strongly opposed the MU.  On hindsight, is it worth the fight? We are stuck with mounting costs and regressive overtures now and then. Every birthdays we are thrown deeper into the caste system which Hindu-India trying to cleanse itself.

Saya Rafizi, umur 40 tahun. Seperti juga anda, saya ada anak, isteri dan mak ayah.

Sebentar tadi, pada hari ini, 7 Februari 2018, hakim Zamri Bakar telah mendapati saya bersalah dalam kes NFC.

Saya dijatuhi hukuman penjara 2.5 tahun. Bersama dengan hukuman penjara 1.5 tahun kes OSA, saya kini berdepan penjara 4 tahun.

Saya dituduh mendedahkan maklumat bank keluarga Dato’ Seri Shahrizat Jalil dan syarikat-syarikat milik mereka.

NFC adalah skandal pertama yang saya dedahkan. Sekarang semua orang tahu mengenai lembu dan kondo, bila mana sebahagian besar dari RM250 juta dana awam yang sepatutnya sampai untuk penternak miskin, akhirnya digunakan untuk membeli kondominium mewah dan membiayai perniagaan lain.

Kes ini telah berlalu 6 tahun, sebahagian besar dari rakyat telah pun melupakannya. Begitulah sifat kita – kita mudah lupa.

Dalam setiap skandal penyelewengan, ada orang yang tidak akan lupa kerana mereka menanggung kesannya. Mereka menjadi mangsa bila masyarakat membiarkan rasuah berleluasa.

Ketidakadilan yang berlaku adalah nyata – saya tidak mengambil satu sen pun duit rakyat, tetapi saya dan kerana bank yang menghabiskan banyak masa di dalam kandang tertuduh.

Tidak ada seorang pun dari mereka yang terlibat dengan skandal NFC yang dihadapkan ke muka pengadilan. Yang kena dakwa adalah saya dan abang Johari, bukannya mereka.

Jutaan lagi rakyat Malaysia turut menanggung beban bila kegagalan NFC tidak dihukum. Harga daging lembu semakin mahal dan kebelakangan ini banyak keluarga tidak mampu pun untuk menikmati daging lembu.

Dana awam RM250 juta sebahagian besarnya hilang begitu saja.

Saya telah jalankan amanah saya. Saya tidak menyesal sedikit pun.

Saya pasrah dan apa pun hukuman yang telah dan akan dijatuhkan ke atas saya, saya dan keluarga saya akan redha dan menerimanya dengan baik. Kami tenang kerana kami tahu kami telah menjalankan amanah kami.

A PLEA TO THE ROYALS/MB OF PAHANG

Talib Harimau or Pak Itam as he would like to be called lives with his wife in a dilapidated wooden house at Kg. Badak, Kuantan on land that his brother has sold away. 

He is bed-ridden for more than a year. His wife said that he cannot talk but can understand what we say. He can take liquid food only. His only daughter died of womb cancer(?) some months ago. His two sons left and never take care of him.

For the last two months his welfare amounted to RM300/month has not been due. I have been sending some monthly allowance for a year or so. I used to visit him years ago, the last time was in 2012. I wish I could do more but my wife needs frequent cancer treatment.

For whatever small contributions he has done for Pahang (and Kelantan) he should not be forsaken. They are in dire need of financial assistance and healthcare. Pak Itam is on the death-bed and would not last much longer.

TALIB HARIMAU, MY PAK ITAM: Part 2

Talib Harimau loves freedom to do what he likes to do. A pendekar needs no master, responsible to no one but his own. During his prime marauding age somebody asked him to be a gocoh (silat ring fighter) in Kota Bahru to earn money. He won 4 fights and lost once. The winner received $90 and loser $50.

Pak Itam (back)  is at home with elephants to be a mahout. The scene was at an elephant capture to be brought to Kuala Gandah, Pahang.


He worked once in a sawmill at Kuantan. The Mat Salleh boss seeing Talib a bit playfull told a worker that Talib bodoh and Raja bodoh. Talib was told about it and made him furious with anger especially for the latter remark. His boss need to be taught.

After lunch the next he impatiently waited for the boss to come in. Talib wished him "Good morning" which made the boss angry for the wrong calling. Talib lunged at him with a punch but the well built Mat Salleh didn't fall. After a couple more punches the latter was on the floor. If not for the other workers stopping Talib, the boss would be in dire consequence. When the palace got wind of the incidence Talib was called by the Sultan. Talib knew the power of the Sultan's tight slap which he was fond to punish with, and afraid of the pelempang he seeked refuge in Kelantan for sometime.

The Harimau said that his father was the son Tengku Abdullah, a sibling of Sultan Mulut Merah of Kelantan. He left Kelantan for Pahang and called himself Awang Sulu and became a guru silat at Semantan. Then he went to Nenasi.

It was about a dozen years that I didn't visit him because of being in Sarawak. Around mid-February last I drove up to Kg. Badak, Kuantan and reached there late afternoon. He was not at home but at his floating hut on the river nearby, catching fish with jala. I went to see him on the river and to my surprise he has lost recognition of me! Apparently his memory is fading.



That evening I belanja them at a seafood restaurant for his 66th birthday by coincidence. Talib was in a jubilant mood saying poetry, praising me and joking with the girls serving food. I realised now that he is or was rather quite a woman's man!

His wife urged me to take him as my bodyguard which she has said a couple of times before. I was elated but I'm no millionaire!

Talib Harimau is out of tune with the modern concept of life. Palace intrigues are of different nature now. We don't fight with silat but use bullets.
Yet, he managed to fit in a marginalised world trying to live off the land and be contented but not necessarily happy.

He was keeping many cows at one time but were poisoned. His motor for the fishing got stolen. He got to floor with a quick silat move on one of the kampung folks when they talked bad about him. Till now no one dares to interfere with life though somewhat poor.

I did ask him to do a favour for me before I left!

SYED MOKHTAR NEEDS FEEDBACK

Pejabat Pos has been privatised which is under Syed Mokhtar. Someone is not doing his/her job in the Pos Laju. I sent via air two separate gifts in boxes (child rattan rocking chair and rattan rocking horse) to the US, somehow they did not mail them and return them back to me. 

It has been 5 months I am still waiting for the refund of postages paid amounted to RM380. The amount is small nevertheless  a business for the PO. 

I have enquired from the PO Tronoh several times. Have gone to Maybank Batu Gajah to check whether the money has been credited. For their inefficiency I have wasted time and effort. 

Most if not all of the privatisations/corporatisations in the country are monkey business. The costs of their service or whatever dealing with them have gone up by some factors. The customers/consumers pay to support the lifestyles of executives - FGV, Bernas, KTM, TNB, Bank Agro, you name it. 

Syed Mokhtar's corporate world spreading too thin that service is poor? Is he greedy? He can do it all, no other takers? Let's share the cake and eat it well.
