ROMANS RAZED JEWERY TEMPLE, 70 AD


Chronologically, Palestine has been conquered by the Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek (Alexander), Seleucid, Roman and finally the Arab. Jewery being also in Palestine were particularly subjugated and humiliated by these empires .

The Roman conquest of Jerusalem (70 AD) with destruction of its (Second) Temple. Rome's victory was commemorated on the Arch of Titus, dedicated to the Roman commander.


The First Temple, which was built during Solomon's reign (upper reconstruction) over a period of seven years, was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon in 586 BC. Above it, Solomon's palace was visible. The Second Temple was erected about seventy years later in accordance with an unpreposessing plan, then rebuilt in the 1st century BC with unusual splendour by Herod (lower reconstruction).
