WORLD EXPOSITIONS, 1889 (PARIS), 1970 (TOKYO)

Exposition Universelle de 1889 was held at the Eiffel Tower when it was just built.

Hitler was at the Eiffel Tower when France was conquered early in WW2.

EXPO '70 at Tokyo.
The soaring Tower of the Sun pierced the roof of the Theme Exhibition building below it appeared the sun's "face."

Drumlike structures of Japan's pavilion symbolised the cherry blossom.

Bird's eye view of EXPO'70: at bottom left is the spire of the U.S.S.R. Pavillion, at upper right is the low "quilted" roof of the U.S. exhibit.
