SAMARINDA-BALIKPAPAN - CULTURE AND HISTORY

Samarinda, an exotic name for a large town in Kalimantan Timur (Katim), Borneo. It evokes a sense de va ju, a dreamland-like place. Many an adventurer had explored that part of Borneo, along the Mahakam River of which Samarinda lies  at its mouth.

Jokowi, the President of Indonesia has proposed Samarinda-Balikpapan to be the new capital city to replace Jakarta.
